‘Pretty Wrecked’, a Wayne mom’s new tell-all; This is not your father’s library; Main Line family brings Cabrini to the big screen; Wayne Wawa & lux condo news; Hello, Osushi Wayne, Fiore Rosso 2.0, Full of Grace Florals, Blue Heron, RAZRBAR & more

With her girl-next-door face and bouncy personality, it’s hard to picture Wayne mom Tracy Viola as the duplicitous, defiant drug-addicted teen in her new memoir, Pretty Wrecked.

But maybe that’s the point of this tell-all: looks (and smarts) can be deceptive. Heck, they help you deceive. You can be pretty – and pretty wrecked for years – but you can fool yourself for only so long.

Sooner or later, you’ll crash and burn.

Tracy hit rock bottom seven months after her Agnes Irwin graduation when, strung out and shivering with nowhere to sleep, she crawled inside an empty Toyota parked behind the Devon Acme.

The promise, pathos and too-short life of Brad Perz (Stoga ’13); Comings, goings & The Pub that stays put; Zapping pain in Paoli; Devine Designs & more

Four weeks after her 24-year-old son died in her arms, Berwyn nurse Beth Perz stood before of a roomful of strangers – reporters, TV cameras and county officials – and broke down. Chester County had just announced its plan to sue opioid manufacturers. And two of the targeted companies – Endo and Cephalon – made the drugs that destroyed her son.

An eleventh-hour addition to the Jan. 15 news conference, Perz had written nothing; she would wing it.

She wiped her eyes, collected herself and began: “I’m here because I have to fight this fight.”

Local beer boom; Stunning news @ aging skin; Academy Ball Ever After; Gucci crimes; Bridal tidings; Saluting newsman Tom Murray & more

Suddenly, the Main Line is soaking in suds.

Sure, we have locally-owned brewpub faves like Ardmore’s Tired Hands, McKenzie Brewhouses in Berwyn and Malvern, newbie La Cabra Brewing and, slithering soon to Bryn Mawr, Tin Lizard.

And yes, we’ve got a few, but not nearly enough, cozy gastro-pubs like The Goat’s Beard and Teresa’s Next Door in Wayne.

And of course, restaurants far and nigh (Biga, Savona et. al.) have been beefing up their beer lists.

No, the BIG news in brews is this: a brand-new law permits PA peeps to take home beer by the bottle.

Holy Heineken!
