The Main Line is leaning hard into its horsey heritage.
Radnor Hotel’s public spaces are being rebranded as Triple Crown Restaurant, Events and Garden.
The old McKenzie Brew House in Malvern is now the equestrian-themed Jockey Tavern.
And a neglected circa-1808 Radnor store has been elegantly resurrected as Vanner House, happy hunting grounds for all things horsey.

The current home of Vanner House at the corner of Conestoga and Radnor-Chester roads was “W.H. Cornog’s Choice Groceries” in this 1910 photo. Built in the early 1800s on the homestead of an original Welsh settler, the two-story stone structure was a general store and housed the first Ithan Post Office. Wealthy locals (Atterburys, Pughs, Penningtons and Chews) joined hands to save the store in the late 1930s. (History and photo courtesy of Radnor Historical Society.)
Open since mid-December, Vanner House celebrates classic equestrian style – in home décor, distinctive fashions, curated gifts and accessories.
Vintage plank floors, 12-inch deep windowsills, an original King of Prussia-marble fireplace and sturdy stone walls – all beautifully restored – make a fitting backdrop for this Ralph Lauren-esque lifestyle brand.
Fancy a dressage-themed blanket? A pillow fashioned from a vintage Hermes scarf? Horses on your tissue box? An original equine painting on your wall? A stirrup napkin holder? A handmade cigar-box handbag? A chic saddle pad? Elegant equestrian-style boots? A classic cape?
They’re all here – and oodles more – artfully displayed in a handful of handsome rooms.

Manager Christine Colonna and VP Sophia Garceau welcome visitors to Vanner House.
Adding to the charm: a lovely little café dispenses free coffee, tea and hot chocolate and kids are welcome.
“Come have a cookie and say hi. We want you to feel at home and to make shopping with us an experience,” explains Vanner House VP Sophia Garceau who loves the equine aesthetic but doesn’t ride herself. “We like to say we make your luxury lifestyle come true but leave the riding up to you. We’re classy with a touch of whimsy.”
About the name: Vanner House is a tribute to owner Kristan Cicero’s two beloved Gypsy Vanner horses, Dreamer and Daisy. The majestic English breed once pulled caravans, hence the name.

Vanner House owner Kristan Cicero aboard her Gypsy Vanner “Dreamer.” Cicero is a Wilkes-Barre native who currently splits her time between the Main Line and Wake Forest, N.C.
Cicero formed the company just three years ago when she found shopping for gifts for her horse trainers woeful. She started with an Etsy shop and rented stalls at iconic horse shows like Devon, the Hampton Classic and Wellington International before planting a year-round flag in the center of the Main Line.
