The Main Line has a baker’s dozen of newish cake shops for paw-rents: Delice et Chocolat, The Happy Mixer, Tous Les Jour, Maman, Le Mignon and more.
But a bakery for their beagle babies?
Now that’s a whole ’nother bun in the oven.
Please shake paws with Woof Gang, the new gourmet dog treat/luxury spa/premium food & style emporium in Wayne’s Eagle Village Shops.
Open since early September, this is Woof Gang’s 238th franchise location.
The 5,000 sq. ft. space has retail in front; bathing and grooming rooms out of sight.
Calling Woof Gang a bakery is a bit of a stretch. Treats are made elsewhere but they are “human-grade” with all-natural goodies like honey, granola and peanut butter. And they sure do look fresh from the oven. Don’t be surprised if your toddler craves a Woof Gang donut, cannoli or slice of layered “barkday” cake.
Not sure which dental-healthy rawhide treat to buy Bella? Let her nose around the “farmer’s market” at dogs’ eye level and choose for herself.
For her main course, there’s an array of nutritious raw, dried and canned foods that cater to specific dietary needs, along with “toppers” for kibble. “Dogs are like people,” says co-owner Tre King. “They don’t want to eat spaghetti every night.”
There’s also a nice selection of cute and trendy canine gifts and plush toys, a section for healthcare items, meds and grooming tools, and a wall devoted to fashion.
Grooming appointments can be made online. King suggests booking a little TLC for yourself while Fido is getting a little snip snip here, pat pat there in this merry new land for dogs. Eagle Village has a Hand & Stone Massage, Gentlemen’s Choice Barbershop and Village Salon, not to mention great shopping at Valley Forge Flowers, Main Line Sound & Video and the Little House Shop, among others.
Choose a “mini” or splurge on a “full” groom: shampoo, conditioner, cut and blowout; nail, ear and gland work; topped off with a stylish bandana and a spritz of “revitalizing spray.”
First-timers always get a full groom for any breed for $65. After that, prices vary by dog size, from $60 to $75 for small dogs up to $110 to $130 for XXL dogs. Doodles and poodles are $15 more.
At Woof Gang, grooming doesn’t end at the spa door.
“When you leave here, we’ll consult with you on your pet,” King says. “We might say you have to brush three times a day or cut your dog’s nails more often. If you can’t bring them back, we have options for home care. We’re all about pet wellness – whether we’re doing it or pet parents are doing it.”
Woof Gang Wayne’s co-owners are Lock Haven U. college buddies (below) King, Cameron Humpheries and Vaughn McClelland.
Humpheries and McClelland own three Orange Theory Fitness franchises. King, who works in supply chain management, is a pet parent in King of Prussia. He tells us his golden needs allergy-free products and all-natural ingredients.
“We loved Woof Gang because it promotes longevity and healthy eating,” King enthuses. “And pets have become the pinnacle of family life,”
The partners chose a primo Eagle Village spot along Lancaster Avenue for its high visibility in an area that’s crazy for canines, according to their demographic research.
Says King: “The rent is high but we’re trading off for a large population of dogs living nearby.”
To bring pet parents and their pooches together, Woof Gang plans educational talks, yappy hours and seasonal parties and such.
Woof Gang, Eagle Village Shops 503 W. Lancaster Ave., Wayne. Call 610-245-0335 or book online. First full groom is $65.
